Cadenza by Estelle Yarns in a fine yarn designed for knitting socks, but this luxury yarn with its vivid colours and soft silky feel is ideal for shawls and any lace weight project. It is 80% super wash wool, and 20% Tussah silk. Tussah means "wild", and Tussah silk is wildcrafted, and thus it is naturally organic. Tussah or wild silk worms live naturally in tropical or semi-tropical forests. Their silk is gathered after the moth emerges. As the caterpillars eat all kinds of different trees, all rich in tannin, the silk is beige to brownish toned when undyed. There are many varieties and shades of wild silk. Tussah is generally stronger and more resilient than cultivated "white" silk.

One hank makes one pair of socks.

Tension: 30 stitches to 4 inches (10 cm) on a 2.5 - 3.5 mm needle. (US 2 - 4)

Cleaning: Machine wash on gentle, cold, dry flat.

Available in a 100 gram (3½ ounce) hank or skein.
