Frill Seeker by Estelle Yarns is a new type of ribbon yarn. It is knit by placing the needle into the yarn (deliberately splitting the yarn!) and then the yarn blossoms out to form a row of frills. It sounds odd but it creates a stunning scarf. This yarn is 100% acrylic, and there is a free pattern on this site. One ball makes a scarf about 6ft long by 6 inches wide (190 x 16 cm) so this yarn offers great value.

Evita by Katia is a fun yarn made from70% new wool and 30% Synthetic fur (Polyester). There is no real fur in this product. The yarn can be knit into a scarf or other accessories. A simple pattern for the scarf is given on this web site. One ball makes one scarf.

Eco Duo by Cascade Yarns is an ultra soft, aran weight yarn. It uses only naturally coloured yarns, so it completely undyed. It is 70% Undyed Baby Alpaca and 30% Undyed Merino Wool.

Drake by Estelle Yarns a thick and thin yarn which knits up fast for scarves, accessories, and sweaters. It is 70% virgin wool, and 30% acrylic.

Boreal by Katia is a chenille yarn made from 50% wool, and 50% acrylic. It knits to 7 stitches to 4 inches (10 cm) on a 15 - 20 mm (US 19 - 35) needle.

This summer we thought we would have a bit of fun. We know a lot of you go away for vacations or stay at the cottage, so we thought we would ask you for your holiday photos showing you knitting or sewing while away from home. Send us a photo - it must show you knitting or sewing, and include in the background your holiday location.

Include your name, a phone number where we can contact you, and where the location is. We will put the photos in the front windows of both stores, on the big screen TV at Bank St and on our web site. (We will include your name and the location, but not your phone number.) We have scheduled a Learn To Sew class to start in August for Kids from age 8 upwards. It will run 2 hours per day, August 17, 18, 19 and 20 (Tuesday to Friday) from 10:00 am to noon. This very popular class is being run by Jutta Hof, who also teaches our popular adult Learn To Sew classes. Your kids will come home with a finished project and confidence in their new sewing skills. So sign up soon for this class.
